There were no actions initiated against perpetrators of major scams like 2G, CWG, CoalG, etc. Bansal is being forced to resign for what could be considered as a "Pocket Maar" amount compared to epic proportions of corruption seen in aforesaid scams. Ashwani Kumar who tried to clean up the mess also has resigned as of now. We need to look at the issue "Holistically", (of course, not the Manish Tiwari way) and possibly do a root cause analysis and the results wouldn't be too surprising.
What is the accountability that these so called representatives of people have? Bansal probably thought that amount being small, more like rounding off errors in the scam books, not many would be bothered. Unfortunately for him, this scheme didn't work out. Ashwani Kumar probably thought the interests of the party and his reporting bosses was far more important than the interests of the country. Unfortunately for him, the CBI director didn't toe his line.
Has the BJP been an effective opposition? My answer would be a resounding "NO". All the accusations against them like "Never lets the parliament run" have been taken as compliments. However, none of these give it back saying that the ruling coalition shares an equal if not more responsibility for the adjournments. Who can forget what happened when Sushma Swaraj tried to speak before LS walkout during passing of Finance Bill? Is there any point in raising that in a Press Conference and leave it? I can't forget the actions of the Queen Bee when LK Advani was speaking and he called the UPA2 and illegitimate Government. It beats all logic that BJP doesn't want to use any of these to counter the morons who rant on TV shows that "Opposition doesn't let the show go on..." Hah! Coming to the TV, I seriously think the BJP guys who appear on TV shows badly need basic training except for a few like Meenakshi Lekhi and Smriti Irani, I haven't seen anyone give it back. It also beats all logic as to why these people appear on NDTV or CNN IBN. Neither are they allowed to air their views nor do they get time to counter the Congress rants. Why go at all?
My views, are purely personal, and I believe that there are at least half a billion Indians who are concerned about the country. I strongly believe we need a Leader and a visionary who can lead us into the later part of the decade, that will probably decide the fate of the country for the next 50 years. We are all talking of Young Country, average age less than 26, etc. What will happen after 35-40 years when the working population ages? Is somebody planning for that?
I don't know if there is a single person who can take India from the nadir to its peak. But I am sure that if there is a person who can build a team of like minded bureaucrats and politicians who are interested in the larger welfare of India, it is only that person who can lead India to glory. At this point of time, I can only think of one person called as "Narendra Damodardas Modi"
